In the main incoming switch of the server rack or in the power distribution cabinet connected to the backup generator and UPS, a large number of circuit breakers and protective relays capable of carrying high currents are used. These typically utilize large silver alloy sheets and silver-plated copper contacts.

b. Power distribution unit (PDU) inside the cabinet: miniature circuit breaker and energy-saving relay

The power distribution unit (PDU) of each cabinet uses many miniature circuit breakers and energy-saving relays. Typically rivets or smaller tips are used, along with their corresponding welded or riveted components. Small soldered copper braided wire soft connections are also used in miniature circuit breakers.

2. Soft connection and copper busbar：

Inside the cabinet, high current is distributed through connectors and buses. To cope with higher power density, the power supply voltage is trending towards higher voltages such as 800V, reducing current loss and wiring stress. This requires the combined use of high-current power connectors, multilayer busbars, rigid connections, and flexible connections. In some high-power scenarios, even “liquid-cooled DC busbar assemblies” with integrated cooling functions have emerged.

The relays, switches, and circuit breakers mentioned above use metal stamping parts, and beryllium copper springs are also used for shielding. The chassis shell is mainly made of sheet metal, but it also uses punch presses and molds to perform processes such as punching, corner cutting, stretching, and forming on the sheet metal.
